The HE Computing Final Year Project Open Day project was a small two page website that I had to create at the culmination of my studies in order to promote the event for the College and to local businesses.
Requirements of the project were that it had to include complete design documentation from original sketches through to mockup designs and then final implementation and supporting documentation on how the website functioned.
Addition stipulations for the project were that it had to have a basic registration system so a mailing list could be created, and to be fully responsive across all device types. Furthermore, animations and graphical elements had to be bespoke with the exception of company logos and the website had to include SEO.
The project was summed up by the following:
“You have put a lot of time and effort into this work. You have gone the extra mile to ensure that you have delivered a quality website that fully meets the needs of the user. I am quite sure that the College would be happy to use your web and social media pages should it feel the need to do so.
Your work is always well laid out, shows thoughtfulness and insight and is very well presented and referenced. You will make an excellent software engineer and, with my lecturer hat on, I can pay you no higher compliment than that.”

Unlock your creative genius with these 21 essential tips.
We’ve all been there at least once where you don’t know the way forward with a particular project or task. Sometimes it can be helpful to step back and re-evaluate what it is you’re trying to design or create, and that is usually my preferred method of overcoming creative block.

How to annoy a designer? There are many ways and to any designers reading this, what do you find most annoying? I’m sure you will find some of them on this very list.
I came across this graphic the other day which I think sums up perfectly all the frustrations designers face day in and day out.

It’s been awhile since my last blog post due to one very specific reason, and it isn’t something that I wish to go into online. Those of you who know me understand, and hopefully this new direction in life that I blogged about last year can finally start to get going and back on track.
